Meet the CISO Who Built Cyber Heat Map

Throughout his career, Chris observed a common theme: organizations need practical, data-driven strategies, not dense frameworks or one-off audit reports. In 2021, he launched CampusCISO, an advisory service dedicated to higher-education cybersecurity. To better support those clients, he built the first version of what is now Cyber Heat Map.

That tool helps leaders see their entire security program at a glance, spot their most pressing gaps, and confidently prioritize funding where it matters most.

Chris believes cybersecurity planning tools should free teams to improve security, not drown them in paperwork, audits, or vendor-biased recommendations. Since day one, Cyber Heat Map has remained vendor-neutral, offering guidance without pushing products and giving decision-makers a level playing field. By staying intentionally independent, Chris ensures every recommendation is designed for his clients' needs, not a third party’s agenda.
